Man, F*ck This House and Other Disasters
Man, F*ck This House (and Other Disasters) from Brian Asman combines his previously published titular novella (which had been on my TBR for a while) with six other dark stories.
The novella and the short stories all seem to have a nod to folklore or urban legends but (mostly) from a slightly different angle than I’ve seen before, and overall some were more my taste than others.
I don’t want to spoil anything so will keep my comments brief.
Man, F*ck This House - don’t worry, somebody says it. A fun take on the haunted house trope though most of the characters were not super likable.
Beware the Hurlyburly - a different PoV on a “Slenderman”-esque internet meme
Seven Years - possibly my favorite - is seven years bad luck better or worse than what these mirrors have in store?
In the Rushes - what I thought would be a version of the hitchhiker urban legend went a different and unexpectedly wholesome way - also one of my favorites
Razor Bill - another take on a urban legend - tap tap
Line of Sight - is this why my cats resist getting in their carriers?
The Tire Swing - don’t go into the woods, kids
