Sleeping with the Monster: Stories
Women in Horror Month Day 13
I don't have it in me to watch, or even rewatch, a film today, so instead I'll recommend some of my favorite women in other horror media.
Books: I had the pleasure of meeting Anya Martin several years ago at Buried Alive! Horror Film Festival. She has recently published a book of stories called Sleeping with the Monster. I guarantee you haven't read anything like them before. Go get it!
Music: Valentine Wolfe has a lot of great stuff that would qualify, but I recommend the recent release The Haunting of Mary Shelley.
Podcast: The Faculty of Horror makes loving horror feel smart. Andrea Subissati is a sociologist and editor of Rue Morgue magazine. Her co-host Alexandra West is a journalist who also went to film school. They are friends and easy to listen to but also do a great job of breaking down how horror films are reflected in and by society, but with an affection for the genre even if they don't like every film they discuss.
