The Only Good Indians
I started this book several times but found myself picking up other things instead, but I'm glad I finally made the effort to get past the opening pages. While the book can seem slow at times, I think this serves to the increasing tension. It is not every writer than can make me literally hold my breath during a game of 1:1 pick-up basketball, but Jones achieved this is one of the final scenes.
He also does a good job of incorporating the importance of traditions such as how hunting and sacred grounds work within the Blackfeet and other native cultures with the telling of the story so the gravity of the main characters' actions which drives the story is understood.
I would recommend this for folk horror fans and for any non-Native American horror fans looking to diversify their reading and learn about other cultures.
