To Make Him Disappear
Thanks to NetGalley and their Victory Editing Co-op, I had a chance to read a fun dark comedy/thriller instead of my usual horror.
To Make Him Disappear by Inga Jones follows Audrey, who’s only a few years older than I am but seems to have her life together - that is, until she suspects her daughter Carrie’s new boyfriend Derek is a conman and gets embroiled in a murder mystery at a B&B trying to prove it.
Audrey hires a private eye, Uyanga, to investigate Derek, but because she’s a control freak, she insists on going with her to stay at the true crime themed B&B where the clues to his past lead them.
Thinking she would uncover just enough dirt to scare Carrie away from Derek, Audrey ends up stirring up her own past and getting involved in a complex web of schemes, lies, and murder that puts her whole family in danger.
Overall, this was a really fun thriller, with just the right amount of snark and wit and twists and turns.
