Hell of a Summer (2023)

MOVIE 8 - 2025 Edition of 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days

Hell of a Summer follows underachieving nice guy Jason Hochberg who's returning to Camp Pineway for his 6th year as camp counselor instead of accepting a career-launching internship as his mother wants. Unbeknownst to him, the owners have been murdered, but he thinks it's a test to determine if he's capable of managing the camp.

That's about as far as the plot goes. The campers start dying immediately, and with the phones and cars disabled, they set about trying to survive the night.

There was some funny dialogue, and, even though it was silly, the over-the-top reactions - especially Fred Hechinger's as Jason - to finding bodies/parts of bodies made me laugh.

Overall, some decent (if not very bloody) kills and laughs makes for a fun 85 minutes.
