Jollyface (2026)

A white woman becomes the accidental face of a racial justice movement after her black fiancé is murdered - but when she discovers the killer was a white man in blackface, she’s forced to confront how her own “allyship” mirrors the violence she thought she was fighting.

JOLLYFACE, written and directed by Justin Floyd says big things about race and white privilege in a big way. 

Blair, the whitest girl with pale skin and white-blonde hair, is in a very sweet romantic relationship with Nick, a black man, whom she’s constantly defending against micro-aggressions whether he wants it or not. 

The mystery and thriller portions were predictable for genre fans, but her relationships, including that with her best friend - a black female cop - add some interest and humor, but, much like the BIG MESSAGE, were broad and borderline cliché. 

The directing is more successful than the writing for me; the cinematography was beautiful and worth a watch alone. 

JOLLYFACE had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest.
