King Baby
King Baby achieved what the best fairy tales achieve, which is the feeling that the story beneath the story is much darker and sadder than the story we’re hearing/seeing on the surface.
As “alpha” and “beta” or “dominant” and “submissive” archetypes, King Baby’s King and Servant show us that there’s really not that much difference other than the amount of power one has at a given time.
As cringy as the actions of the individuals are, it’s horrifying to consider how these play out in reality. As an absurd comedy (not without overt moments of horror, such as when each sees the other as the demon from the “kingly” dreams) and as a mirror being held up to society, it works.
