Old Wounds

Old Wounds is a fun, creepy found footage road-trip horror with likeable main characters, and I can’t ask much more from a film.

There were some creepy moments, both in fun (creepy doll) and not (childhood friend followed us all the way from Austin?) ways. Even before Graham’s arrival, there were hints of something sinister, with Ashley occasionally looking pensive and telling Steve, ‘we don’t go into that room.”

Occasional nods to other horror films, from Steve’s “The Shining” patterned socks to the Blair Witch-like folk horror twig formations left hanging for them to find, were also fun for this horror fan, but what I really appreciate is the time taken to allow us to get to know the characters, their relationship to each other, and the (sometimes painfully awkward) interpersonal dynamics.
