Another Fine Mess
Lindy Ryan has done the improbable, which is to make me grateful that my day job is so pedestrian - unlike the Evans family in Another Fine Mess (follow-up to the hilarious Bless Your Heart), I rarely have to deal with the undead.
In Another Fine Mess, we return to the small Texas town where the Evans women and their allies are the last line of defense between the “restless dead” and the (mostly) unsuspecting townsfolk.
A mix of horror, mystery, and dark humor, with a dash of nostalgia thanks to the mid-90s setting, this second entry in the Bless Your Heart series is as comforting as a cozy mystery - though the body count and some descriptions of gore - not to mention the snark of high school homecoming queen wannabes - probably bump it out of the cozy category.
After the events of Bless Your Heart, Lenore and her granddaughter Luna are the only living Evans women, but with their allies, including the new sheriff, they work to solve the latest threat to the town to save everyone they love.
Like Bless Your Heart, Another Fine Mess was narrated by the talented Stephanie Németh-Parker whose delivery of some lines literally made me laugh out loud.
