Bookshops & Bonedust

I got Legends & Lattes (this one is a prequel to that) for Christmas & liked it so much, I gave myself Bookshops & Bonedust for New Year & liked it even more - probably, in part, to my love of books and previous life working in a bookshop.

With the current popularity of D&D-inspired media, my favorite thing about this one is its connection to fantasy tropes is not distracting.

Probably by virtue of its nature of having an “off-duty” adventurer, it is more like a cozy fantasy, so I’m not thinking, hey, a [pick a class] can’t do that! I’m not trying to guess her stats or what she rolled to hit. I just have a fun story with talking animals, a little romance, humor, and books. I wouldn’t have guessed I’d enjoy these books so much, and I’m glad my spouse introduced them to me.
