Killington
I’m saving all my new and “new to me” horror movies for the 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days which starts 8/1, but I have to get my fix, so I rewatched this one from last year’s Chattanooga Film Festival and enjoyed it just as much.
My original review:
The synopsis assured me I’d be getting a standard “group of friends go on a trip with horrific results” film which are mostly a jumble with an occasional standout such as April Fool’s Day (the 1986 one) or The Ritual. The characters were immediately unlikeable, which I loved, but I never would have expected to hear, “Have you done any Shakespeare?” as a pickup line from the first (and only) likeable character to finally appear. That being said, there were some funny (cringy) moments of hero worship, but what started as an apparent sendup of the influencer cult of personality really started leaning into its campy comedic potential when the stripper went missing about 2/3 into its 90 minute runtime, I knew this was special. Bonus: I got a new catch phrase, “Did I miss the sun salutation?!”
I have not been using my new catch phrase, so I need to get on that.
